Action items for Josiah:
- Focus on creating the work that you are missing in your portfolio in your upcoming stylized shoot - look on pinterest and really brainstorm the exact images you are hoping to make. Have a clear plan going into it. Watch my styled shoot series on Youtube and voxer me with any questions.
- Your SEO key word terms will likely be: Lake City Florida Wedding Photographer, Lake City Fl photographer, Drone photographer in Lake city Florida, underwater portrait photographer FL, and also include variations of these to include Jacksonville and Gainesville.
- Ask friends or people you know through friends to model for you to get couples portraits, family portraits, headshots, etc. This will not only get the word out that you are a practicing photographer, but will also grow your portfolio. Always get them to sign a model release - a simple one page agreement that you are allowed to use the images
- Reach out to a minimum of 10 photographers to second shoot AFTER you have updated portfolio from your styled shoots. I would search your local area on google. also, inside FB groups for your local area.
- See if you can rent the gear for an underwater shoot - this might take a little bit of work to find the right pool, lighting, etc.
- Begin using and getting familiar with Facebook business page features, and instagram. Instagram is HUGE for photographers, especially wedding photographers so this will serve you like crazy. begin with tutorials and screen share videos on instagram reels, stories, and how to create a complete bio. I suggest having something like this “Hi I’m Josiah! 👋 I’m a wedding and portrait photographer in North/central Florida (whatever region makes sense here) specializing in underwater portraits and drone footage!” Or something along those lines. Be sure your city location is listed. Your title of instagram is searchable so having just your name is not as helpful as having your name then the city and service. so you could have “Josiah Day | Florida Wedding Photographer” in the name field.

Nikon D4
This is my main full-frame camera body with a built in grip for vertical shooting. It has 2 card slots, high speed shooting, and AMAZING low-light capabilities.
Nikon D610
My back up camera body and the body I use to shoot all the video in my business including my YouTube Videos!
Nikon 70-200mm 2.8
My go to lens for ceremonies and to get that dreamy compression and make background distractions disappear.
Nikon 50mm 1.4
I believe every photographer should have a 50mm lens. It's light, has sharp focus, and super affordable!
Nikon 60mm Macro
Before I had much money, I decided to get this macro instead of the 105mm and I absolutely LOVE it.
Nikon 85mm 1.4
Favorite portrait lens. Dreamy bokeh. If I could shoot on this all day I Would.
Nikon 24-70mm 2.8
The most versatile lens in my bag. Great for family formals and group shots!
Genaray Video Light
Great for dark reception detail shots like the cake and also must-have for sparkler exits.
Westcott Umbrella
White shoot-through umbrella for my off camera flash set up to soften the light.
